CreativeScapes is a project taking place at the University of Southampton, supported by the Creative Campus Initiative. It is designed to involve students, architects, artists, designers, academics and other users in thinking imaginatively about the Highfield campus. This would focus on the concept of a new Creativescape (a building, a space and new landscape) taking the place of Building 38, the centre of Highfield Campus. This new Creativescape and its surroundings will be designed and imaged as a new hub for interaction, knowledge sharing and creativity within the campus.
Disclaimer: the project is a participatory design exercise but does not aim to provide any realistic design or planning output for the future development of the campus. The design and building development on campus is subject to rigorous consultation and planning procedures, which are not taken into consideration for the scope of this project, which is simply a creative exercise. At present, no plans or funding are in place to implement any of the ideas produced, but it is hoped that these ideas will stimulate the debate about creativity on campus.
