The project

CreativeScapes is a project taking place at the University of Southampton, supported by the Creative Campus Initiative. It is designed to involve students, architects, artists, designers, academics and other users in thinking imaginatively about the Highfield campus. This would focus on the concept of a new Creativescape (a building, a space and new landscape) taking the place of Building 38, the centre of Highfield Campus. This new Creativescape and its surroundings will be designed and imaged as a new hub for interaction, knowledge sharing and creativity within the campus.

Take part in our survey

The project will initiate with a period of research and consultation with the users of Building 38 and its surroundings. After the first data collection period a ‘working document’ will be prepared containing key findings, issues, positive practices, difficulties and aspirations emerging from interviews and surveys.

TAKE PART IN OUR SURVEY

These findings will be shared and discussed during three creative workshops. These workshops will include creative practitioners (designers, artists, architects etc.) as well as students, academics and other users of the Highfield campus. The proposals, visions and ideas emerging from the workshops should provide an innovative and creative challenge to the current uses of the space within the campus, suggesting alternative visions and solutions.

The ideas will be collected and developed by the creative practitioners and will be exhibited in an in these pages. Additionally, the concepts will be displayed at an exhibition in Building 38, aiming to directly engage the campus users.
